Artist statement

Alex's  paintings appear like fragments, capturing and preserving an illusion for us in an expansive world of their own. Each canvas offers a glimpse into the heart of a densely packed scence, guiding our attention throgh the oblique contours of Alex's storytelling. Most of the paintings are scenes of open public, private spaces beckoning the viewer's curiosity inward. Face to works，our attention, frist lulling, then tuning our perception to the fabric of dreamlike domains. then the works asks, without ever quite revealing, whether these are moments of familiar or earnest reflection.

He drew on various sources, especially his own personal history, memories, and observations of life, and extensively disseminated references to film, literature, and art history. Attempting to expose the joy hidden beneath the surface in the image.

Alex emphasizes working methods. His story attempts to emerge during the production process through the language of the painting itself, through the manipulation of materials (paint, varnish, collage), and the suggestions triggered by this activity, layering and reprocessing the images until some important things merge together. The unusual colour palette and unique image composition give us some of the most resonant and memorable images in recent paintings.
